How does Carlisle River support wildlife and their habitat?
We found the perfect place to set up a wildlife shelter 26 years ago here in Carlisle River. Mainly bush of 135 acres and bounded on one side by the Gellibrand River and another side by Otway National Park.
How our project funding supported Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter
Carola received $1000 in funding from W4W as well as a further $1000 that was donated to us by the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port to use for bushfire relief that we directed towards the shelters rebuild.
Carola unfortunately lost her Kangaroo and Wallaby enclosure. The attached photos shows a cleared area ready to rebuild her new enclosure.

What advice would you give the public?
Never just leave an injured native animal to slowly die. Contact your nearest wildlife group or shelter, a vet or even drop by the nearest police station and let them know. Clearly mark where you spotted the injured animal so rescuers can easily find it. Stop and please check pouches whenever safe to do so.
