All about town!
We received a call from a concerned member of public with ducklings in her yard and in the yard next door.
After searching for the mother we realised that they had unfortunately been orphaned. With the ducklings running all over the place it was decided that they needed to be rescued and a new home found for them. One of volunteers quickly arrived at the property and he and the member of public were able to collect all 5 that she had seen. They were placed in safe carry box and transported to a local shelter.
Just before our volunteer arrived at the shelter the member of public called back to say that she had located another duckling and was more than happy to take it to the carer. With that we thanked the wonderful member of public and our volunteer and closed the rescue.
An hour later we received a call from a local vet who had been handed a duckling found not more than 200 meters from the first lot of ducklings. We could not believe that these little ducklings had been running around the town. We rang the shelter who were happy to take on the last duckling and the local vet nurse took him down to be reunited with his family. The ducklings were safe and sound, and our volunteer needed to go home and put their feet up.
