How does Konongwootong Wildlife Shelter support wildlife and their habitat?
Whilst only a relatively new shelter, I have been involved in wildlife rescue for about 10 years. Being rural, I rescue, rehabilitate and release a wide range of species including koalas, macropods, possums and birds.
I cover a large area across South west Victoria, so there is a lot of travelling to attend rescues and collect animals coming into care. As a single person run shelter I rely on donations and grants, along with self funding to provide the necessary care, including feed, housing, medical treatment and petrol costs.
What advice would you give the public?
Please don't drive past. If something doesn't look right, take the time to stop, check and call for assistance if required.

For many wildlife rehabilitators, having access to life-saving food or equipment is often a necessity they struggle to afford. These dedicated individuals devote their lives to assisting wildlife, typically funding their efforts themselves and covering costs for baby formula, medicine, and supplies from their own pockets. Unfortunately, they receive little to no government support for their crucial work. By providing these vouchers, you empower rehabilitators to continue their invaluable work, offering second chances to animals in need.Use the email address at checkout: charlie6677@gmail.com
