How does Prom Coast support wildlife and their habitat?

Prom Coast Wildlife Shelter, run by Ali and Steve on 100 acres in the Foster North hills, South Gippsland, provides rescue, transport, and rehabilitation for wildlife, with a focus on wombats. The shelter specialises in caring for orphaned adolescent wombats, preparing them for safe release through rewilding activities.

We also promotes education and advocacy for wombat welfare and are developing a register of large private properties where wombats can be safely released.

What advice would you give the public?

If you come across an unwell wombat with mange, try to provide photographs and/or a video so we can identify the injuries and severity of the mange. Contact Mange Management who will be in contact with a local volunteer (like myself) to assist.

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT PROM COAST WILDLIFE CARE?

Purchase a Wombaroo Gift Voucher and provide life saving Milk Formulas for orphaned wildlife.

For many wildlife rehabilitators, having access to life-saving food or equipment is often a necessity they struggle to afford. These dedicated individuals devote their lives to assisting wildlife, typically funding their efforts themselves and covering costs for baby formula, medicine, and supplies from their own pockets. Unfortunately, they receive little to no government support for their crucial work.
Gift vouchers make a significant difference for carers, whether it's purchasing a $20 Wombaroo voucher for a tiny joey or $1,000 voucher to support a mob of injured Kangaroo’s, every contribution plays a vital role in the recovery and survival of these precious creatures. By providing these vouchers, you empower rehabilitators to continue their invaluable work, offering second chances to animals in need.
