How does Bunurong Wildlife Care support wildlife and their habitat?

We are a Shelter in the Bunurong Ward of the Bass Coast Shire in Victoria. Caring for wildlife from coastal and inland waters, coastline vegetation, farmlands and forests. Our vision is simple and yet so complex ’ Our home for a rest, BUT their forever home is best’.

We operate from a two storey private home (people upstairs and wildlife and carers downstairs & outside). Our home is a quiet place with spaces for injured, ill or orphaned wildlife for care. Foster Carers are selected for their passion to provide consistent care and for the land spaces that they may have to contibute to rehabilitation resources.

We have 22 Shelter Helpers, who are rostered on for the ’grotty’ and ’gorgeous’ care jobs. We share most roles but have specific roles for feed preparation, joeys or wildlife with special medical or other needs.

How our project funding supported Wild Days Wildlife Shelter

Our November Shelter Spotlight, Linda has approached a local engineering company A&D Cuman Engineering to custom make her a critical care Koala hospital cage.

W4W’s $1000 funding is being used for a deposit on the cage to get the process started. This enclosure will help her rehabilitate many sick, injured and orphaned Koalas.

There are many ways to help our wildlife and we get lots of calls a week with concerned Members of Public wanting to help. You can do this by reporting injured and orphaned wildlife or donating funds so that we can continue our programs and provide ongoing support to wildlife shelters.

What can you do to help?

What advice would you give the public?

Wildlife need you to have an empathy 'moment' for their needs and think how you can take some action so that they can continue to live in their forever homes as they belong here and we are the visitors.
