SUPPORT 4 SHELTERS
Support 4 Shelters Day
Spring is in the air which means wildlife are on the move and breeding season is well and truly underway The perfect time of year to host our Annual Support 4 Shelters Day where we bring the wildlife community together and help prepare them for the annual influx of orphaned and injured wildlife that will need rescue and rehabilitation
Wildlife shelters and their carers attended the day to stock up on essential items. Rescue equipment, pouches, possum boxes, medical supplies, native trees and petrol vouchers were some of the items donated for them to rescue, feed and care for wildlife. Shelters themselves even bought in donations to share around It was great day to meet, chat and learn from a likeminded community.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers for making this day possible your passion and dedication to this important work is inspiring. Thank you also to our wildlife shelters and carers who are the ambulances and hospitals for our wildlife Without you our wildlife may never be able to have a second chance at life
Thank you very much to our sponsors, businesses and donors who have contributed and supported our cause Your ongoing support makes our charity possible!

The Importance of Wildlife Shelters
Supporting wildlife shelters is crucial for several reasons, and it plays a vital role in the overall well-being and conservation of our planet. Here are some key reasons why it's important to support wildlife shelters:
Biodiversity Conservation: Wildlife shelters contribute to the preservation of biodiversity by rescuing and rehabilitating injured, orphaned, or distressed animals. Biodiversity is essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems and ensuring the balance of natural processes.
Species Protection: Many species in Australia are facing threats such as habitat loss, climate change, and human-wildlife conflict. Wildlife shelters provide a safe haven for our unique animals affected by these challenges, helping to protect endangered, vulnerable and common species.
Animal Welfare: Wildlife shelters play a crucial role in providing medical care, rehabilitation, and a safe environment for animals in distress. This helps to alleviate suffering and increases the chances of releasing rehabilitated animals back into the wild.
It takes a large amount of time, energy and money to successfully rehabilitate them and return them back to the wild. The majority of wildlife shelters rely on support from the public and volunteers to help them and they receive little to no funding at all to accomplish this.
There are many things shelters do from the second an animal comes into care.
Receive call outs to injured, lost or trapped animals using their own means of transportation. They may have to catch the animals themselves or have a qualified person to come and sedate certain animals like kangaroos.
Assess their needs immediately, this may mean administering medication.
Taking them to vets or other specialised wildlife sanctuaries or Zoos for assessment and treatment.
Caring for wounds.
Hand rearing baby animals.
Round the clock daily feeding and cleaning.
Teaching wildlife to forage for their food in the most natural way possible.
Releasing wildlife back to the habitat in which they were found.
Wildlife rehabilitators are passionate for wildlife and love taking care of them, this enriches their lives knowing they have made a difference. Warriors 4 Wildlife work alongside many wildlife shelters and carers throughout Victoria, we aim to support shelters in any way we can so they can continue to do this important and vital work well into the future.

Some more shelters receiving necessary and much needed items to help rehabilitate wildlife in care
Our volunteer Linda took our Wildlife Rescue Vehicle loaded with donations to deliver to Geoff at Treehouse Wildlife Refuge Metung who helped us to distribute the supplies to carers in the Gippsland area. Car incubators, pouches, kangaroo bags, medical and cleaning supplies and feed for the animals were donated
Animalia Wildlife Shelter and Elouera Wildlife Shelter also came to our warehouse and went shopping for some supplies they needed
Our Support 4 Shelters program and Wildlife Support Centre is a vital service for the wildlife community Building valuable connections, resilience within the community and contributing to the preservation of our native wildlife
This Steel Chief enclosure would not be possible without the incredible financial support of Warriors 4 Wildlife, who generously funded the entire enclosure. Thank-you to everyone at @warriors4wildlife.
